Most of you already know about the Harlem Shake, but in case you don't, I'll fill you in!
It's basically a video of a dance/mimic done in a group to the song 'Harlem Shake.' According to Wikipedia, 'the videos normally last 30 - 32 seconds. Usually, a video begins with one person (often helmeted or masked) dancing to the song alone for 15 seconds, surrounded by other people not paying attention or unaware of the dancing individual. Then the music changes and the video cuts to the entire crowd doing a crazy convulsive dance for the next 15 seconds. People often wear a minimum of clothes or crazy outfits or costumes while wielding strange props.'
This whole craze started when a group of five teenagers from Australia uploaded a video on February 2. It went viral and led to thousands of 'Harlem Shake' videos being uploaded every day.
We have watched a ton of 'Harlem Shake' videos from different groups in the US and other countries. Lots of sports teams and organizations, including two in our league, have done them and you can watch almost all of them on youtube.
Our team decided it would be fun to join the craze and make their own 'Harlem Shake' video. The guys brought costumes or found random things in the gym to use and made their video after practice last week. They had so much fun making it and we still laugh after watching it way too many times. There are so many little things going on in the video that you have to watch it several times to catch it all. Chris said it was a perfect team bonding event if nothing else. With very little planning, they did a great job.
The video was played for all of the fans after our win at home against Hagen on Saturday. Up until the last few disastrous minutes of the game, the team played really well. Although they should have won by 20, they ended up winning by 10. Chris finished the game with 11 pts and 8 rbs. It was definitely his best game since his injury. Hopefully the team will continue to play like this. Only two months left until playoffs!
So here's our video, take a look and pass it on if you can. We are trying to get as many views as possible:
