Katie and Frido's Wedding

I'm a little late on this, but last weekend we went to the wedding of Chris' sister, Katie and Frido! It was held outside in the courtyard of their art building in Nurtingen. After a ceremony along the river, we did a small dance around the bride and groom, had champagne then went to the pavilion for cake and coffee. Every guest was asked to bring some sort of covered dish or cake for the wedding and there was tons of food. Along with the 70 cupcakes I made, there were lots of other delicious desserts! After coffee time, each couple attending the wedding released a balloon with a gift idea written on a note attached to it. If someone finds any of these notes and mails them back to Katie and Frido, we are supposed to give them the gift we wrote. The dinner buffet was filled with different foods that the guests brought including quiches, polenta, salads and a giant cauldron of German wedding soup that Chris' Uncle Rudolf and family cooked over a fire. Different bands provided the music throughout the evening. The best way I can describe the wedding is 'hippy.' She wore what reminded me of a 1970's style flower girl dress and he wore a brown corduroy suit. They made their own decorations with bright flowers and feathers. There was a special tent filled with oriental rugs and hookahs and a camper that several friends showed up in serving Chai tea throughout the night. Katie made cute little clay bowls for each guest to take home. It was a very unique wedding, perfectly fitting to them. It was lots of fun and I thought their own details they put into everything were very nice. They are such a wonderful couple and great parents to our little godson Joscha. Congratulations Katie and Frido, we love you!!!
