Another Quick Week

It's hard to believe it's already the end of another week! Unfortunately, this wasnt the best week for us, so we are happy it went fast.

I have been asking Chris to get a puppy for two years, and he finally gave in! I really wanted a chihuahua, because they are one of the smallest lapdogs and would be easier to travel with. They are also known to be well behaved! We contacted a lot of breeders, and after two weeks we found an amazing puppy! We wanted one that wasnt tan, so it took a little longer to find one. The breeder happened to be driving through this area from the Czech Republic, so he actually brought the puppy right to us. Pedro was only 9.5 weeks and weighed just over a pound, so he was very small and very cute! The first day was hard because it was the first time he was away from his mother and in a new place. The second day he really started to open up. He was following us around everywhere wagging his tail and he was so sweet! Unfortunately on Sunday morning he got very sick. He couldnt stand up and was whimpering the whole time, then he started having seizures a few times an hour. We found an emergency vet and then took him from the vet to the animal hospital right away. They said they werent sure what was wrong with him and took him overnight. They called us the next morning to tell us that he died. They really weren't sure what happened to him, but think that it was something to do with having too much fluid around his brain. It is something that happens to chihuahuas and other dogs with that shape of head sometimes. They said it was better that it happened now and not later after he was older and that there was nothing we could have done to help him. It was so sad to see him like that and we couldnt believe it happened. We loved him a lot even after only two days! We are talking about getting a new puppy now, but first we have to find one again. Either way, we know we cant replace Pedro.

Last Saturday was our last home preseason game against Bremerhaven, another team in our league. It was a close game until the 4th quarter when the guys just sort of fell apart. Chris still had a decent game. Here is a video of some of the highlights, you can see some good shots of Chris in action:

Yesterday two of the other girls and I drove to the boys game at Weissenfels, a city two hours away from here. It was the first big trip with me driving a stick this year, but I did really well. It was a game we definitely should have won, but didn't! The team just didnt play well and the referees seemed to hate us for some reason. I think I have never been to a game where so many fouls were called. There were 41 fouls called against our team alone and we had 6 players fouled out. All I can say is good luck next time when half of our players aren't sitting on the bench!

Our first regular season game is this Friday on the road. Hopefully we can start off the season with a win!

We hope you all have a great weekend! Miss you and hope everyone is doing well.
