I flew to Barcelona on Wednesday to spend a few extra days with Ivana before Chris' game on Friday. We had a lot of fun shopping, going out to eat, and just hanging out. The weather was beautiful with temperatures in the low 60's - a big change from our freezing weather in Palencia!
On Friday I went to Chris' game against Cornella, a team that was ranked just below us. Unfortunately I missed the whole first half because we got lost and couldnt find the gym! When I arrived we were down by almost ten, but after half time the game got crazy! The guys fought for the lead the entire second half. With only 3 minutes to go, we were down by 9 again. Then the team really stepped it up with Xavi's great steal and layup and then Chris having two amazing rebounds to seal our lead at the end. We won 83-79! Chris had a great game with 12 points and 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. It was just nice to see him really get to play and not get bad fouls called on him that take him out of the game. We are now one win ahead of the second place team so hopefully we can keep it up when we travel to play against them this Sunday.
After the game, we met Jan and Ivana at our favorite restaurant, dos trece, for a quick dinner. On Saturday, we went to the beach, Christmas shopping, to Prat to watch Chris' old team play at home, and then went out with some old friends. On Sunday we went to Jan's game (my third game on this trip!) and saw his team beat Gran Canaria and then had a nice dinner and went out a little with some more friends. We had to wake up early today to catch our 7 AM flight back, but we had time to relax all afternoon at home.
We really did have a great trip. We had a lot of fun spending time with our old friends and being back in the city. The weather was perfect and the city was really pretty with all of the Christmas decorations. Now just two more weeks until our trip to the US!
