After beating Roanne in an exciting game on Friday, Gottingen advanced to the Eurochallenge finals against the Russian team, Krasnye Krylia, on Sunday. After a crazy and difficult game, the guys pulled through with a 83 - 75 victory to win the championship!!! Chris played a major role in the victory with 22 points and 5 rbs in only 15 minutes. He was nearly unstoppable shooting 8/9 in the paint and 6/6 from the free throw line! All of the guys played well and worked hard to get the win, they truly deserved it!
With almost 4000 fans in the Lokhalle, mostly cheering for Gottingen, the atmosphere was crazy! Everyone was wearing their purple, waving their flags and scarves, and singing together. This is the first time this team has won a major tournament since its entry into the German first league, so we just made history!

After the game, there was a 2 hour celebration with the fans in the hall then we headed off to dinner and a big party at Monros Park. Yesterday, we all rode on the new Gottingen city bus to the city hall downtown where the team signed the city's history book and were presented to the city by the mayor. It was a wonderful weekend, and we are so thankful to be a part of this team and to have experienced this! Chris' parents were here for the weekend, so they got to take part in the excitement too!
Now they are off preparing for the first round of German league playoffs, which begins this Saturday with the first game against Bremerhaven.
